Special use RJ-RJ cable harnesses

These cables are made such that one end is a prebuilt standard Ethernet cable crimp. This is not the ideal method for long-haul serial transmission, but is reasonable for short-haul use.

Special use cables.

For the APC AP79xx and AP89xx PDU's, use an RJ12 crimp and six conductor satin cable. For those of you who have never used satin, there is a cut depth gauge on the standard crimp tool. The smooth side of the cable faces up to the tab and the ribbed is down by the pins. The end with the white wire aligned to pin 1 should be used on the RJ12 end. Cut off and strip the white and blue on the RJ45 end and splice them with a bit of heatshrink. This more easily accomplishes the shunt between 1 and 6 on the RJ12 end without having to mess around trying to do a tiny shunt wire.
